railway signal frames

The coming of the railway to the Illawarra made a huge difference to local residents and visitors to the region.  Prior to the arrival of the railway, the long trip to Sydney included travelling up Bulli Pass by coach to Campbelltown and then catching a train to Sydney.  The coastal railway made the journey quicker and easier. Trains commenced trips to Bulli and Corrimal by 1887.

This signal frame with 20 switches came from Corrimal station signal box.  It can be viewed in the collection of the Black Diamond Heritage Centre at Bulli.
